Abyss in the Rain 10th February 2007
‘Twas a dark and stormy night…and by morning, it wasn’t much better. So we suited up and jumped in. The water got better the deeper we went, and the rain was a distant pitter-patter on the surface. Lots of schools of fish to swim through, plenty of amorous cuttlefish, and weedy sea dragons coming up to your mask to say hello. I have my ear problem since my first dive (I did not equalised properly). With today’s weather condition, I am taking things easy. Ocean Trek staff are friendly they make the best meals. I relaxed on the deck and enjoyed the nice ocean view. I definitely have something to tell when I am back in Sydney.…..Well, I learned it is so important to equalise and I definitely will come back and try again. - I have had a fun experience with the staff and guests. Having not really been in the water for a few years, this was a great way to come back! Lots of different species of wildlife to see, and I got to experience my first night dive J I ended up getting an ear problem as well, so didn’t dive the second day, but felt I got a lot of good diving in on Saturday! I would come back, and look forward to maybe seeing some of the underwater shots that some of the other divers took! I got to see a lot of firsts when it came to the underwater life here. –Erin When packing a torch for a night dive make sure you pack plenty, you’d think 6 torches between 3 divers would surface, anyway the diving was warm with good viz, heaps to see. The food was great, the drinks were grate and the operators really friendly. – Anthony Why would you do it any other way. The operation runs like clockwork, the staff are great and the diving is even better. Thanks for a great weekend. The dive briefs where great so we got the most out of each dive Thanks Lyn, Jason My favourite dive on the weekend was the Docks, it has everything from overhangs, swim throughs, giant cuttlefish that are attracted to your cam era, but the best thing I saw was 2 Moray Eels sharing a rock opening. I had great time and look forward to coming back soon. GregJ Great organisation made this a great weekend for someone with little experience like me. Thanks Mick and Lyn. Loved those cuttlefish. Thanks to Greg for guiding me. His keen observation under ledges and in crevices made each dive interesting. The food and accommodation excellent. Andrew
Well organised, lovely food, pleasant efficient staff Very pleased with their teamwork, thanks for a good weekend. The Duncan family. Right from the start you can tell it’s not the average live-aboard. The crew are immediately friendly and engaging, the environment is warm and welcoming and the atmosphere both casual and professional. Customer service and customer experience are clearly the crews highest priority, second only to safety. They efficiently get us ready for each dive, provide detailed briefings and check every detail before we depart. Upon return we always found that the crew had spent their time preparing hot food, laying out the tables or getting organised for the next dive. The facilities are excellent, the beds comfortable and all essentials (coffee, tea, soups etc) were always available and self serve. The dive sites were brilliant. There was a huge variety of marine life in abundance numbers. Overall, the trip was fantastic and I will definitely be using Ocean Trek again. Paul. I have been fortunate enough to spend time diving on some fantastic live aboard, the Ocean Trek Diving Resort is up there with the best of them. Well done and thanks. Michael. Thanks for a truly pleasurable and rememberable experience. Your crew are fun, friendly and helpful. Great knowledge of the dive sites helped plan a carefree dive each time. Great Food. Just keep doing what your doing. Simon
