Charlestown’s Long Weekend

26thOctober 2008

Will "Peppermint T" Owyong’s account:

We boarded ‘Priscilla’ at around 9PM Friday night. A few of us had the stonegrill at Huskisson before we were picked up. Have the set menu. The bay was calm which meant gathering our sea legs was easier than expected.

We started our dives Saturday morning on the South side of the bay just off a site called "The Nursery". For the second dive we entered the Nursery where there were a plethora of Port Jacksons and an enormous wobbegong with a head width of at least 2ft. For our third and fourth dives we went across the bay to the northern side to "The Docks Area" which protected us from the afternoon swells. The rock walls and caves were spectacular and there was abundant sea life. At night, Mike leaves the back light on which attracts much of the night life. We saw a big school of young mackerel in a feeding frenzy…not too long after our own feeding frenzy.

Dive #5 on Sunday morning we headed to Perpendicular Point and Pyramid Rock. Dive #6 we headed back for another dive at The Bay Area and had a look at Slot Cave. The scooters are lots of fun!

Mike, Lynn, and Harriet are awesome hosts and present Jervis Bay in the best possible way. CDA club member’s thinking of coming here for a holiday: You have been told!

What more can I say ? Love the Nooks & Crannies on the North Wall & could spend all day exploring especailly on the scooters. Combined with the Drysuit, Ummm Heaven. Food fantastic. Put on 10 kilos (Thanks Harriet).

Be seeing you all again soon, Deano

What more could be said other than I’ll be back for more diving ,Thanks to the crew our stay was awsome.Next time I hope to be able to dive outside the heads n see some seals !!! THANKS OCEAN TREK.
