Lost Sock Flooded Camera

2nd November 2009

As the sock hit the surface none of us panicked, as we knew it would float. After 3 minutes of not much action the sock started to descend underwater for it first and last dive. Unfortunately for the sock it was never to see the light of day again.

As Sam and Priscilla frantically searched, it slowly descended into the depths, whipped through a school of king fish, around a large bommie, through a swim through to rest next to a moray eel.

The following morning and after a minutes silence the camera brigade kitted up ready to take the photo of the trip….who knows what they were looking for , was it the Port Jackson Sharks, the Wobbies, the weedies or even the infamous explorer sock. But in the hast of glory Ooops a twisted O ring and a camera flooded with water.

Veni Vidi Vici said Caesar. But I tried.. I Veni Vidi Idived. I started just seeing some fishes, then I saw some big fish and then I saw lots creatures of beauty and subtlety … I had become a diver of discernment, ..perhaps!. And my skills had improved from amateur splash to sort of buoyant. So when I come back I might not loose my buddy. (Stuart)

A trip of many adventures, many achievements, many laughs and much success. What a beautifully managed experience which speaks of enormous professionalism and passion. As we write on the last evening tired but satisfied having met new friends and experienced new adventures we are grateful for the gift given by the Ocean Trek team in sharing their space, craft, knowledge and passion – Thank you (anne & Andrew Bennett)
