Doom & Gloom

1st April 2006

The Bureau of Meteorology predicted 33kts WINDS increasing swell to 3meters, Rain & and a bad weekend and here we are going on Ocean Trek

To Lyn, Mick, Hattie, Kev and Andrew,

I would love to have a job as a weather man, the only job where you can get it wrong more than 70% of the time and still keep your job. Once again my expectations have been smashed. Despite wind and swell, you found us some great sites to dive. I had 3 first time events this weekend; a dive with my club, using my new camera, and using a safety anchor. Thanks for the tips on the Camera Lyn, I hope to show you some great photos soon. Looking forward to getting wet in JB on Ocean Trek sooner rather than later. For those reading this, come and enjoy the experience.

Cheers

Alex!

It was a dark and stormy night, the seas were angry that night my friend. Ah no, wrong story. Despite the slightly less than perfect conditions at times you have all made this a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Some good diving and good fun was had. Thankyou very much to the whole crew. Josh.

To all my scuba Brothers and Sisters, if you never been on a live aboard you have not completed all the pre-requisites of a scuba diver, the crew here at Ocean Trek, look after you like one of their own, (they whip you, beat you then they get nasty…ha ha) if your not rested after a weekend on Ocean Trek you will never be, just dive, dive and some fun too….no attitudes here. Thanks for the weekend, those yellow scooters were fantastic. Cheers Roland.

Now was that south by east or east by north back to the boat. Ah well bugger it – the battery on the DPV wins anyway. Let’s surface, airs getting low – sh…t were miles from the boat. Ah well, that’s why we have the DPVs. Now for the night, which way was it to the reef – jeez there’s a lot of sand. I think we took a wrong turn.

And somewhere out there is a wobby who has taken out a contract on Mat T. And an occy who is taking one out on Norm….

In the words Slade – a awesome weekend – starting with the doom and gloom forecasts on Friday night turned into near perfect diving conditions, both in and out of the water. Ocean Trek has to be to date the best live aboard I have completed so far – friendly service and your waited on hand and foot – Mick runs a tight ship and Lyn runs a professional dive deck, you could not ask for a better operation for beginners to advanced.

My apologies to the wobby with the headache, what can I say DPV’s are too much fun, just need to get better control.

My thanks to the fantastic group of people who made the trip fun and to In Depth for arranging this weekend.

This weekend being the 2nd trip aboard Ocean Trek, and the first time for myself, and let me just say I am impressed, with not only the diving but the crew and the facilities aboard the vessel. With the weather not being in our favour, we seemed to strike it lucky and everybody seemed to have a great time. Thanks to Lyn, Mick and the crew, and a big thankyou to all aboard for another fun In Depth Scuba dive trip.

Norm – In Depth Scuba

A big thanks to the Ocean Trek crew for a fantastic weekend. This was my first live-aboard experience and most definitely a memorable one. It was great to get to know the crew and dine at café Hattie. Despite having a bleak forecast for the weekend the diving turned out to be fantastic and everyone seems to have one or two tales to share. As for the wobby we saw "it was this big".
